A healthy human brain can process 400 billion bits of information per second. However, we are only conscious of about 2,000 of those 400 billion bits of information. In simpler terms, most of the information of reality is processed by our unconscious minds. So . . .

Trying to control the unconscious mind with the conscious mind, is like trying to control the tides with a shrimp boat! |
These other parts, made up of feelings, beliefs, and unconscious programs, live outside of logical, everyday awareness. They live in the cells of your body, in what's called the bodymind. That is why trying to impose changes solely with willpower or logic doesn't work. The bodymind IS the unconscious mind. So if you really want to make changes, all the parts of you must be on board. Otherwise you'll just keep spinning in your head, feeling frustrated, and feeling bad about yourself in the process. To find relief, you must gain access to your bodymind and uncover the hidden feelings and beliefs which conflict with your real desires. That's why the power of positive thinking will not work for most people. The subconscious mind is like a tape player. Until you change the tape, it will not change."
"If we could get your subconscious mind to agree with your conscious mind about being happy, that's when your positive thoughts work." |
